“This sets us up for Monday and that is what we are focussed on now, nothing else. We will be in tomorrow at 10am getting ready for the St Mirren match and have shown previously that we are capable of getting a result against them. In the last match we dominated the game but gave away two sloppy goals.”

The Clyde boss concluded: “We have a young team who are fighting for each other they would run through brick walls for one another. We’ve had two defeats in fourteen matches and we want to keep our good run going no matter the opposition.”

Despite the score line, Ian McCall was putting a brave face on the result. “It was never a 3-0 scoreline. We didn’t deserve to win but we didn’t deserve lose by that margin. Clyde have two good players in Williams and especially Brighton who is as good as any at this level but since I’ve came back into this division I’ve noticed the standard has dropped dramatically.”

McCall continued: “We started far better, Cherrie made a fantastic save and then we gave away a goal. We had chances through Burns and Thomson but couldn’t get the goal to get back on level terms.”

McCall remains upbeat about his team’s chances of avoiding the drop. “Monday’s game against Stranraer is not make or break. There are still too many points up for grabs. I am looking to bring in about six players in January, though at the moment I have been finding it tough to get players to come. They seem to think Dumfries is further away than it actually is but we will continue to work to turn this around.”
