Montrose 0 Clyde 1

An 11th minute goal by Tom Brighton was enough to give Graham Roberts his first competitive victory in charge of Clyde as the Bully Wee beat Montrose 1-0. Speaking to the website on the team bus home Clyde boss Graham Roberts was understandably delighted with the result. “We knew we weren’t far away but it is obviously good when you get a positive result. Nice football doesn’t mean anything if you don’t win. Tonight we defended properly and fully deserved our victory. We needed to win and at times tonight we needed to battle to earn it but this is a reward to the players who have given it their all over the last few days.”

Graham continued, “Lots of people wrote us off after Saturday’s result but the players knuckled down and are giving it their all. We just ignore what the “experts” say. I am proud of each and every one of them. They are learning, it will take time but we have some smashing players here who have been chosen for their talent and are working to improve all the time.”

“Some of the players are in 7 days a week the rest are in 6 days determined to work at their game and all that with many on about a fifth of what some players were getting here last year. I have nothing but admiration for them and I’m sure the fans will recognise and appreciate their commitment to Clyde. I can’t wait for Saturday. It will be great to have a match at Broadwood and I urge all the fans to get behind the team as we try to build some momentum from tonight’s result.”
