1955 Cup Final Anniversary Dinner On 3 June

To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the first-ever televised Scottish Cup Final, a special dinner is being held in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park in Glasgow on Friday 3 June.

With three fabulous speakers, the famous Celtic Park hospitality and a room-full of famous faces it is confidently expected to be a sell-out.

It will also be a night to remember! There will also be films and photographs of the two cup final matches, reminders of other happenings in 1955 and some nostalgic music of the period.

Amongst the famous faces will be a number of players who down the years have been associated with both clubs including Billy McNeill, John Clark, Tommy O’Neill, Harry Hood, Dom Sullivan and Joe McBride.

Very special guests on the night will be some of the 1955 players from both sides including Clyde‘s Davie Laing, Ralph Glanville and Ally Hill and Celtic’s Sean Fallon, Willie Fernie and Jimmy Walsh, scorer of Celtic’s goal in the first game. Each of these gentlemen will receive a unique fiftieth anniversary gift.

Every guest attending the Dinner will be given also receive a valued souvenir of the famous occasion.

The Dinner is being organised on behalf of Clyde by General Manager Robert Hannah and the Club’s PR and Marketing supremo John Ruddy, both of whom have been working very closely with their Celtic Park counterparts.

Anyone who attended the superb Supporters’ Trust-organised Dinner in November will confirm it was a huge success, both socially and as a fund-raiser for the Bully Wee. This joint venture with Celtic, the second Clyde Dinner of the season, is expected to be equally successful in both regards.
