Getting Nearer…
Interest in Saturday’s cup competition is growing as matchday nears. Certainly Clyde fans will have one eye on the weather; who can forget last year’s snow-affected clash with Dunfermline Athletic!
Snow is no stranger to cup ties with Clyde and Falkirk. In our last Scottish Cup meeting over twenty years ago, it was on a snow covered pitch at Brockville that John McVeigh and Robert Reilly got the goals in a 2-1 victory over the Bairns. Fortunately this year the weather forecasters are predicting milder weather for Saturday but manager Billy Reid would probably settle for the same result.
The ongoing rain and high winds prior to the weekend will make training difficult but, after two consecutive victories in the League, the Clyde squad are raring to go for Saturday’s match. The match referee will be Calum Murray and the date for the replay, if required, will be Tuesday 18 January with a 7.45 pm kick-off.
Remember, Clyde Season Ticket holders should note that their season ticket package, which included entry to the first home tie in both the Bell’s Cup and CIS Insurance Cup, is not valid for this match and season ticket holders on this occasion will have to pay the appropriate admission charge. (Full details were posted on the site on Sunday).
Early team news will be posted on the site tomorrow but in the meantime if you have any Scottish Cup memories why not post them on the message boards…
