Reid All About The Joust With The Jags

Manager Billy Reid spoke to the website’s Cammy Macdonald after the Thistle match on Saturday.

“Obviously the way results have gone it would seem to be a decent point as it takes us second. I have stated before that we are trying to get as many points on the board as possible. Today we were stretched with Wilson and Sheridan suspended and Alex Walker was on the bench with a niggling injury but that’s all we have. But once again I think my players have given 100% and that’s all I can ask for.

“I am disappointed that it wasn’t a penalty in the second half. I am quite sure all Clyde supporters would agree that in recent weeks decisions have slightly gone against us, but it is easy to become paranoid about referees. We will see on TV if it was a penalty or not. The player seemed to move his arm towards the ball and my players were adamant it was a penalty.

“It was a typical derby game and quite scrappy at times, but we are disappointed that after scoring first we couldn’t hold on and go in at half time in front. But credit to Thistle as they are coming here fighting for their lives, and they do have some good players so we will take the point.

“We only really had two or three players out today but when you are working with a small squad you feel that. Stuart Balmer has come in today and played his first full ninety minutes this season which he needed. He has found it hard to get in as Scott has been playing so well but he has taken his chance today and done fine.

“Ian Harty wants to play and I am happy with that. All my players give 100% and that’s all I can ask of them.

“It’s a tough cup draw as Falkirk are flying but we will give them a game when they come here. Over the past two seasons we have always been up there with Falkirk and there has been a little added spice to the games so it is a game my players will relish.
