One In One Out…

Clyde manager Billy Reid was faced with day of mixed feelings as the Bully Wee prepared for the transfer window opening on January 1st 2005.

Billy Reid has been a long admirer of Graeme Jones and was pleased to confirm to the website this evening that the English forward has agreed terms with Clyde for the remainder of the season. “Graeme has had his problems with injuries but he is fully fit now and has played in Bury’s last six reserve games. He is keen to get going and will provide valuable support to Ian Harty. Any signing can be considered a gamble but I am sure Graham will be good addition to the squad both in his attitude and in his experience”.

Billy continued, “I’m sure the supporters will enjoy seeing him in action and if the registration goes through then the fans will see him in the starting line up against Airdrie United”.

One player who will not be featuring will be Alex Walker. His loan period has finished and he has returned to Rangers. Billy stated, “Financial reasons have dictated that Alex has had to return to Rangers. It is a blow for both the club and Alex himself as he stated his desire to stay but that is the predicament the club finds itself in at the moment.

“I believe the time he has spent at Clyde was beneficial to all parties. I think we have made him a better player by giving him a platform and he had more to show us I’m sure, if he had stayed. Alex is disappointed but there was nothing that I could do.

Billy continued, “We’re obviously looking to strengthen especially up front but it will be a case of waiting and seeing. For now all our efforts are focussed on tomorrow’s game against Airdrie United. They’ve turned us over twice already this season so we are especially keen to get all three points. We have a full squad to choose from and the players will just be delighted to get a game after the two postponements”.

The remainder of the card is made up with Falkirk hosting Raith Rovers; injury stricken Hamilton travel to Dumfries; Partick Thistle take on St Mirren at Love Street while Ross County play St Johnstone.

Have a good New Year and don’t forget to first foot Broadwood tomorrow!
