Billy Reid was hopeful that he would have a full squad to choose from for our Boxing Day clash with Queen of the South. The squad will be boosted by the return from suspension of Darren Sheridan and Billy is also hopeful that Craig Bryson will be ready in time.

Indeed defensively the Clyde boss now has the luxury of being able to choose who plays! Billy commented: “Scott Wilson is now free from suspension but at the moment he may have to kick his heels. It is tough on Scott. He has a great attitude and hasn’t let us down since joining from Airdrie but Stuart Balmer has come into the side and has demonstrated his experience”.

“Stuart had to wait for his opportunity and he has come in and has steadied things. He has done very well and Scott will now have to wait for his chance to get back into the starting line up. For me it is a good problem to have as this is the way it should be with competition for places”.

Training for the players has been altered this week. The squad trained on the astroturf on Monday with only Craig Bryson sitting out. The players were then given Tuesday and today off and will train again on Thursday and Friday. There will be no respite on Christmas Day, as the players will have a short session then in preparation for the Dumfries trip.

“We have a very busy schedule coming up,” stated Billy, “with three games in quick succession so the training won’t be that strenuous but it is important to keep the players focussed at this vital stage of the season. The result last weekend has given everyone a boost and we will go into this programme with confidence”.
