Billy Boosted!

Billy Reid was cautiously optimistic in talking about his options for Saturday’s clash with table-topping Falkirk. “Last week was a tough week. At one point we had about eight players absent from training, however this week has gone slightly better”.

Billy still has some worries ahead of the Broadwood match. “Gary Arbuckle has flu and John Potter is doubtful. In truth John probably shouldn’t have played last Saturday but he is such an influential player for us that he chose to play and I wouldn’t rule him out completely from being ready to face Falkirk on Saturday”.

It was kept quiet last week but Clyde frontman Ian Harty (pictured) was also doubtful for the game at Perth. “Ian didn’t train last week,” commented Billy, “but he has participated this week and barring anything untoward on Thursday and Friday then he should be ready for Saturday”.

One player who did miss out last week was Jimmy Gibson. “Jimmy has been getting treatment from the physios and has been doing additional gym work. Again things are looking better than at this time last week but we’ll wrap him up in cotton wool and do everything we can to get him fit for Saturday”.

These are difficult times for the club as the squad is tested to the limit with a number of the players feeling the effects of the tough schedule. However Billy is not downbeat and is looking forward to the game on Saturday. “It’s our home game and we will go out with the right attitude, determined to get the three points. To be three points off the top spot in December would be a tremendous reward for the players and that is what we are all working to achieve”.
