All For The Back Four!

Clyde boss Billy Reid tonight praised the contribution of his defenders. “I thought the back four were magnificent on Saturday. I’ve talked about Bryn and John but our strength is not just in individuals but in the team working together”.

“We lost a crucial player when Alan (Kernaghan) left but the players have all responded to the challenge. Simon has been great and on Saturday the whole team worked well in restricting Thistle. Gary (Bollan) and Stuart (Balmer) used their experience well. It has been especially difficult for Stuart as he has struggled to get into the team firstly through injury and then the form of Scott Wilson has made him wait”.

“I’ve spoken before that it has been difficult for players outside the starting eleven to get match practice as we can’t run a reserve side so players coming into the side are under pressure to hit the ground running,” explained Billy.

Preparations for Saturday’s trip to Dingwall to play Ross County are continuing and full team news will be on the site on Friday. It will certainly be a tough match as Alex Smith’s side struggle to capture last season’s form. The match, to be refereed by John Rowbotham, is the first of a tough festive schedule that will demand our small squad to be at the top of their game.
