Clyde boss Billy Reid expressed surprise at the reaction of some pundits towards our match with St Mirren. “I wonder what would happen if we did go on a bad run! I do think it is an example of how expectations have risen sky high since August. We went to Love Street and came back with a point and went to the top of the table against a team that has only dropped two points at home all season. It was a good result”.

The Clyde boss highlighted some of the passing movements. “Certainly we defended well at times but we also counter-attacked excellently and carved out several opportunities. Unfortunately we didn’t take them so we had to be satisfied with a point. We are presently in a position where at times we don’t need to risk all to get the result. The final score ensured St Mirren have still not gained any ground on us”.

Though Billy acknowledges the number of bookings he is not considering a change of style. “The players that I’ve brought in are winners and are entirely committed to getting maximum points. The squad’s youth and enthusiasm can sometimes lead to bookings but I wouldn’t want the players to be any different. Suspensions are part and parcel of the game and every team will be affected”.

Billy remains pragmatic. “If suspensions arise it will be a challenge and therefore every point gained at the moment is a bonus as this is such a competitive league That’s why I was delighted to go to New Broomfield this week on the back of a positive result. The players have achieved a tremendous amount this season and with the fans great backing we will work hard to keep this run going”.
