He’S Staying!

In a move which owes much to the continuing efforts of the Supporters’ Trust, Billy Reid was delighted to inform the website this afternoon that young midfielder Craig Bryson has signed a two year deal with the club.

Craig has impressed greatly in his short time at Clyde. Having signed in May 2003, the youngster has consistently demonstrated his commitment to learning his trade. Many of his original team mates in the U19 side were released last December as it was the opinion of Alan Kernaghan that the majority of the squad weren’t applying themselves properly. Craig was different.

Bryson wasn’t shown the exit door rather he was sent, on Billy Reid’s suggestion, to East Kilbride Thistle. “I really enjoyed my time there. The management team of John Brogan and Ian Penman helped improve my positional play. I feel that I am now a stronger and better player for that experience”.

In the Juniors, Bryson got the knowledge of playing on a regular basis in very competitive games. Bryson was such a success that he won the Young Player of the Year award for the South Lanarkshire club.

Billy Reid has consistently enthused about Craig’s application and ability. “I was with Motherwell from their U13 side to their U16 team but I chose to come to Clyde. At first I worked with Gerry Ronald before I progressed to the U19 team with Billy and Andy Millen”.

Reid has been aware of Craig for several seasons and remains confident that the youngster has the skill to progress to the highest level in the game and he is keen for others to follow Craig’s example.

Now the Clyde board has demonstrated their faith and the supporters can look forward to Craig repaying them with his performances on the park in the seasons ahead.

Clyde fans may get their first chance to cheer on Craig this Saturday against Airdrie United. The youngster who had to go off early following a heavy challenge, ironically by Andy Millen, is likely to be fit for this weekend’s clash.
