In Safe Hands

Billy Reid spoke today of his tremendous pleasure in the continued development of Bryn Halliwell. “He deserves great praise. We have got ourselves a wonderful keeper who has worked extremely hard. He has not had it easy since joining Clyde and has endured some tough times but he responded in the right manner and is now in my opinion the best keeper in the division”.

Halliwell was signed from Wimbledon and made his debut against Falkirk as Clyde returned to the First Division in August 2000. In his four years at the Club, Bryn has made over 150 appearances for Clyde.

Twenty-four year old Halliwell, a self confessed Liverpool fan, lists David James as one of his idols. Speaking recently to Clyde fans, Halliwell commented: “James like me has made mistakes, every keeper does, but he acknowledges them honestly and refuses to be distracted. Those are qualities that I admire”.

Halliwell continued, “I know I’m at the stage of my career when I need to work extremely hard to ensure that I continue to develop and be consistent. I’ll still make mistakes from time to time, nobody’s perfect, but if I’m going to achieve anything then I need to continue to improve”.

Clyde have benefited greatly from his efforts and in the First Division it is unlikely that Bryn will ever lack practice, in this competitive league goalkeepers rarely get respite.
