News From The Training Field

Wednesday is the traditional day off for players and this week Clyde are no exception. So far Clyde have had a very positive week’s training buoyed by last Saturday’s result. Balmer (hamstring) and McCracken (cartilage) have been the only ones to miss out though Darren Sheridan, as mentioned on the website on Tuesday, is receiving treatment courtesy of Oldham Athletic.

One player who was extremely happy this week was Aaron Conway (pictured right). Conway, who has signed on loan until January from Dundee United, scored a terrific opener in Clyde’s 2-0 win over Raith Rovers. His twenty yard free kick was one of the Bully Wee’s goals of the season.

“He can score those all the time. He has bags of ability and pace,” commented Billy Reid, “but to be honest I think initially he found the change from SPL U-21 football to the First Division a huge culture shock”.

“He started well at Dumfries when we beat Queen of the South 1-0 but then picked up a slight ankle knock. Gladly, he is now fine and his inclusion in the starting line up last Saturday was merited. He showed what potential he has and hopefully Clyde will continue to reap the reward before he returns to Dundee United.”
