Early Team News
Clyde’s preparations for the home game against Raith Rovers continue. Following the successful 2-0 win against Livingston on Monday, Billy Reid was delighted with the state of his squad. “It was good to see Mark (Gilhaney) getting back into goal-scoring form but equally it was encouraging to see other players compete. Aaron Conway, though he was unhappy at not getting on the scoresheet, looked sharp up front and David Greenhill had a great game, he certainly enjoyed the excellent playing surface at Almondvale”.
Billy continued with some disappointing news. “Although the break allowed niggling injuries to clear up unfortunately Stuart Balmer (pictured) felt a hamstring injury during last week’s training. He missed the bounce game against Livingston and is a possible doubt for the weekend”.
It is a further blow for Clyde’s experienced assistant manager as he has previously suffered a hairline fracture of his leg against Partick Thistle during the very first game of the season. The tall central defender has therefore had a restricted involvement on the park so far but continues to take a full part in assisting Billy preparing the rest of the squad.
Despite the news Billy remained confident for Saturday though he gave a warning to the fans about saturday’s opponenets. “Apart from Stuart’s injury, we are shaping up well. However it will be an extremely tricky clash, as I’m sure we will see a rejuvenated Raith side under Gordon Dalziel”.
A full preview of this weekend’s match and the latest team news will appear on the website on Friday evening.
