Last Minute Signings
Before tonight’s midnight transfer deadline, Alan Kernaghan has used his two remaining “wild cards” to sign Austin McCann from Hearts and former Celtic youngster Steven Jack.
Every club now has the chance to make two signings a season out with the transfer windows thanks to the new wild card system, an option until now unused by the manager. Both players have signed for the club until the end of the season.
24-year-old McCann is at home in the troublesome left-back position and hit the headlines last year after scoring a spectacular injury time winner for Hearts against Celtic. He began his career at Wolves before returning to Scotland to join Airdrie, where his talents didn’t go unnoticed and he won a move to Tynecastle in 2001.
Kernaghan said:-
“Austin is a great addition and is left-sided, which is a big plus. He brings SPL experience with him and we’re delighted to bring him to Clyde.
“Steven will primarily provide cover for the central midfield area but he can play in a few different positions.
“I’m pleased to be able to bring people in at this stage and yesterday’s news helped.”
