Key Players To Miss Ayr Match

Wednesday’s CIS Cup exit has proved to be more costly than it first seemed, with several players now set to miss the match at Somerset Park tomorrow.

Englishmen Bryn Halliwell and Simon Mensing will not play and will be joined in the stand by Jack Ross, who is being left out as a precaution. Alan Kernaghan said, “Jack could probably play but he has an injury that could be aggravated and then he would be facing 6-8 weeks on the sidelines and we can’t afford to take that risk. A week’s rest just now should fix the problem. He’s a huge player for us and will be difficult to replace, but it’s a chance for whoever comes in and it’s up to them to take it.”

Jimmy Gibson has been struggling with illness this week and a decision will be made on his fitness tomorrow but he is rated as doubtful. However another illness worry, John Fraser, will play.

NEXT AWAY DAY: Ayr

On the match Kernaghan said:-

“Billy saw them last week at Ochilview and they got a great result. They are hard working and strong at the back.

“We need to take what we did in the first 45 minutes on Wednesday into the game and if we create as many chances then I’m sure we’ll win.

“It’s up to everyone to pull together and get the season going because up until now it hasn’t really clicked.”
