New Venture For Supporters
Bully Wee supporters are to play in an Internet football league, starting with a match against Ayr United (KaisAyr) at Broadwood on Saturday.
A First Division mini-league has been organised which will run in conjunction with the Internet Football Association (IFA, www.internetfootball.org.uk) and includes teams representing Clyde, Ayr, Raith Rovers, St.Mirren, Queen of the South and St.Johnstone. Matches will be played around once a month and will take place on the Saturday morning prior to the first team match between the corresponding sides.
Despite the idea originating largely from regulars at the Wednesday night “Soccer Sevens”, all Clyde fans are encouraged to get involved. The team will be known as Bully Wee United.
Stevie Morton, who started the Soccer Sevens last year, said, “Some of the lads at the sevens were very keen to get involved in 11-a-side football, so when I heard about the IFA League it seemed like the ideal place to give it a go. This is by no means a third supporters team to rival the current two supporters teams and, in fact, their players are more than welcome to participate; as is any Clyde fan who is keen to play football. Initially, we want to gauge people’s interest and build up a squad of players who are willing to play and take it from there. I would urge anyone at all who is interested in this experiment to get in touch as soon as possible.”
You can do that by e-mailing BullyWeeUnited@clydefc.co.uk or by coming along to the Sevens tomorrow, 9pm at the Hamilton Palace complex.
