Ross And Kernaghan Look Forward
The club today confirmed that Falkirk’s third offer for Jack Ross had been rejected and now all eyes are on preparation for Saturday’s Scottish Cup third round tie at Gretna.
Falkirk were advised of the Board’s decision this morning and a delighted boss Alan Kernaghan admitted – “I didn’t want to lose a player of Jack’s calibre and the Chairman has given an indication of his desire to keep this group of players together, as far as possible. I’d also like to commend Jack for the professional attitude he has shown during a difficult couple of weeks. Coming on top of Saturday’s victory at Perth, it’s been a good 48 hours for us all.”
Our club skipper is also pleased to put the uncertainty behind him – “It’s been a very difficult and tiring fortnight while Falkirk’s approaches were being considered. It’s no secret that, like any player with ambition, I’d like to play at Premier League level. But I’ve got great feeling for this club, and nothing would please me more than captaining the “Bully Wee” to the First Division title.”
“If anything, the events of the last two weeks have been a boost to my confidence through the reaction of all those Clyde fans who have urged me to stay at Broadwood. The comments of support on the Message Board were much appreciated, and if the gentleman who offered to wash my car each Saturday still wishes to do so, he’d be more than welcome!”
“Tiredness had caught up with me by the time I was subbed towards the end of the St Johnstone match, but the response from the fans meant a great deal to me. I feel we have as strong a squad as any in the division and we will continue to push the two ahead of us all the way. The manager has kept me informed throughout and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed my training session today now that the uncertainty is behind me.”
“Now we can concentrate all our thoughts on our cup tie at Gretna. I hope a large and noisy Clyde support will be there to cheer us to victory.”
