Ross Enjoying Feel-Good Factor

Club Captain Jack Ross may have strong Falkirk connections, but he’s desperate to get the better of his local team on Saturday. He knows how important the game is to Clyde’s title hopes, and is in no doubt that the players are ready for the challenge..

“It’s a massive game for us, and it can’t come quick enough for the players this week. The difference it can make to the league table is huge – if we win we will only be 5 points behind them.”

“It reminds me a lot of one of the Partick Thistle games last season, when they were top of the league and we were struggling a bit but we won 3-1. The momentum we had from the 1st minute that day was excellent, and judging from the mood in training this week I don’t think Saturday is going to be any different.”

The debate still rages on about Clyde’s tactics in the last meeting between the sides at Brockville, but Jack would rather people waited until 4.45 on Saturday before passing judgement:-

“I thought we were unfortunate not to take anything at Brockville earlier in the season. Looking back on that day, their fans will probably be expecting a certain type of game, but I think they’ll be surprised.”

The atmosphere at Broadwood this week has been tangible, and Jack can tell that recent results are beginning to have an effect on the Club:-

“I don’t think confidence or belief will be a problem, we’re on a good run and should continue from where we left off. At the moment the feeling in the dressing room reminds me a lot of the 5-month unbeaten spell we went on during the Championship season. It’s hard to knock that out of you.”

“A lot of work has been done off the park to promote the game and it’s up to the players to try and keep the feel-good factor going. Apart from the league decider a couple of years ago, that’s the best Clyde support I’ve seen at Alloa so it shows you the difference good results can make.”

Jack, like many other people, would rather wait until May before evaluating the season’s performance but he believes things are heading in the right direction:-

“You can look at results earlier in the season and say if certain things happened then we could be in an even stronger position than we are, but these things tend to even themselves out over a season. We have a strong squad here and if we keep playing as an 11 every week, then we’re in with a chance.”
