The Bully Wee secured their place in the semi-finals of the Glasgow Cup, as Kyle Fleming’s stunning stoppage-time strike completed a comeback victory over Rangers B this evening.

Clyde made the perfect start, opening the scoring after just five minutes through Scott Williamson from the penalty spot. The striker harried Rangers goalkeeper Rydnn McGuire into a mistake, dispossessing him inside the area before being brought down. Williamson picked himself up and rifled an emphatic penalty beyond McGuire, who was left with no chance.

Rangers B responded swiftly, drawing level six minutes later when a corner was inadvertently turned into his own net by Brian Kinnear. The young Gers then took the lead in the 25th minute as Josh Gentles won possession on the edge of the box and curled a fine effort beyond Kinnear’s reach.

Clyde pressed for an equaliser and were rewarded with 17 minutes remaining. A slick passing move culminated in Darren Hynes cutting the ball back from the by-line into the six-yard box, where Ross Lyon and Robbie Leitch both swung their boots to force the ball past McGuire. TV footage suggests Lyon got the decisive touch.

As a penalty shootout loomed to decide the bonus point, Clyde produced a moment of magic to win the game. A late attack saw the ball break to Kyle Fleming more than 25 yards from goal, and the midfielder unleashed an unstoppable strike that flew into the top corner.

Having already achieved victory over Queen’s Park in June, The Bully Wee will conclude their group-stage campaign with further fixtures against Celtic B and Partick Thistle at the Hamilton Community Stadium in the coming weeks.
