Recap
The Bully Wee lost out narrowly to League 1 leaders Falkirk this afternoon, as their hectic schedule continued.
Danny Lennon made one change to the side which beat Forfar Athletic on Thursday, with Lewis Jamieson coming in for Ally Love.
Conor Sammon had a couple of early opportunities for the hosts, first lobbing wide of goal, then forcing David Mitchell to turn a shot behind.
Falkirk’s opening goal came from the resulting corner. Marky Munro cleared a header off the line, but from the next phase of play Ben Hall turned the ball into the net from the centre of the box.
The Bully Wee had a chance to equalise moments later when David Goodwillie got in behind the defence and spotted Robbie Mutch off his line, but his header was just wide.
At the other end Mitchell made another couple of good saves and just before the interval showed good reflexes to tip a header from Sammon behind.
The Bairns continued to press for a second goal after the restart and Mitchell had to be at his best again to save a long range effort from Aidan Keena.
Craig Howie had a chance to continue his recent goalscoring exploits after a flowing move upfield but Mutch was able to hold his effort from outside the area.
A second goal from the hosts came in the 68th minute after a cross into the box was only cleared as far as Keena, and he rifled a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
Keena almost doubled his tally after breaking clear of the Clyde defence but crashed his effort off the underside of crossbar.
Shortly after The Bully Wee brought themselves back into the game with six minutes remaining. Josh Jack, around 25 yards from goal, took a good touch and let rip with his left foot, with the ball ending up in the bottom corner of Mutch’s goal.
Clyde created one more chance to try and take a point deep into stoppage time as a ball into the box found Love but his flicked overhead effort clipped the bar, as the League 1 leaders held on for the victory.
