Recap

Clyde’s woes on the road continued today as they left New Dundas Park empty handed, despite a late goal from Martin Rennie.

Darren Young made two changes to the line-up that drew with Elgin last weekend. New signings Taylor Sutherland and Scott Williamson were handed their debuts immediately, with Darren Hynes and Kyle Connell dropping to the bench, alongside Martin Rennie who returned from injury.

Bonnyrigg were quick to test Hemfrey in net, with Mark Ferrie’s shot well saved. Another chance from Bonnyrigg moments after was blazed over the bar but in the eighth minute, Cammy Ross put Rose ahead, after a mix-up from the Clyde back-line.

Clyde would attempt to immediately respond, with a header from a corner being blocked on the line five minutes later. Ray Grant’s following corner was close to beating Bonnyrigg’s keeper Paddy Martin but was just tipped over the bar.

Bonnyrigg would be awarded a penalty just before the 30th minute, after an apparent foul by Craig Howie, with Neil Martyniuk converting.

A series’ of corners and free-kicks for both sides ultimately came to nothing, and Clyde went in two goals down at half time.

The restart saw Clyde continue to look for a goal. Free-kicks from Grant and Scullion continued to be well marshalled by the Rose defence. A low shot from a Scullion free-kick looked to be heading for the bottom corner, but Martin made a great stop to prevent it going in.

Only five minutes after coming off the bench, Martin Rennie was able to half the deficit. Lee Hamilton’s header back across the goal was smartly finished by Rennie, who grabbed the ball and immediately ran to the centre circle to restart.

Despite the pushing, Clyde were unable to find the equaliser. Bonnyrigg came close to restoring a two goal lead, after a defensive mistake saw McGachie lay the ball off to an onrushing forward, but the shot was blazed over the bar from 10 yards out.

Robbie Hemfrey came forward deep into stoppage time to join the attack and Clyde had a shout for a penalty when Rennie appeared to be barged in the back with the last play of the game, but the referee waved away strong appeals from The Bully Wee players.
