Stranraer 0-0 Clyde
Clyde picked up a valuable point on the road this afternoon, as a tetchy game in Stranraer ended goalless.
Darren Young initially made a single change to the team which snuck past Penicuik in midweek, with Barry Cuddihy returning to the starting eleven in place of Jamie Bradley. He would be forced into another change, though, when Liam Rooney failed to make it through the warm-up and had to be replaced by Darren Hynes.
In a game which saw both sides pay one another due respect – both in line-ups and approach – it was Clyde who had more efforts at goal in the first half, but in truth neither side seriously troubled the opposing ‘keeper. Stranraer’s Max Currie almost turned a wicked Hynes cross inside his own post, and The Bully Wee flashed a couple of dangerous balls across the face of goal, but there was little else of note to report in an evenly contested first half.
The neutral would’ve been hoping for a bit more adventure after the break, and the teams duly passed up a glorious chance apiece to break the deadlock; first, Hynes sent an effort out of the stadium from inside the area after the ball carried across to him, before Aaron Healy followed him in criminally missing the target from a cutback around five minutes later.
As the half progressed, the game had the feeling of one that was petering out, and precious little followed in terms of chances. The closest either side came to scoring in the time which remained saw Blues captain Lewis Dobbie narrowly miss the far post with a low strike, as the teams settled for a share of the spoils.
