Clyde 1-2 Rangers B

Clyde remain without a point in the KDM Evolution Trophy league stage, having suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in the competition at the hands of Rangers B this evening.

With The Bully Wee likely requiring at least seven points from their three remaining fixtures, and having a short break before their next League Two action, Darren Young opted to name a strong starting XI. There were four changes made to the team which drew with Stirling Albion on Saturday, with Darren Hynes, Logan Dunachie, Jamie Bradley and Marley Redfern all deployed from the off.

The home side had more chances in a relatively even first period, but a fine goal from each side meant the teams went into the interval level. Kyle Connell’s free-kick opener had The Bully Wee ahead just after a quarter of an hour but, with ten minutes of the half remaining, Josh Gentles cracked a shot beyond Jay Hogarth from 25 yards to equalise.

Clyde looked to regain their advantage soon after the break, but it was The Young Gers who would take the lead on the hour. Gentles was again involved with a lovely piece of control from a long ball forward, and he teed up Ashton Patton who kept his cool in the box before slotting into the bottom corner.

A difficult task was made even harder when referee Mark Daly deemed Bradley’s reaction to a challenge to have been violent, with the midfielder subsequently shown a red card. The hosts’ ten men plugged away in the time that remained, but failed to make much of an impression as they ultimately slipped to another KDM defeat.
