Rutherglen Glencairn 3-1 Clyde

An extremely sloppy first half from Clyde saw Rutherglen Glencairn claim victory in the Rutherglen 900 match at the Hamish B Allan Stadium this afternoon.

The Bully Wee got off to a nightmare start when Glens intercepted a short pass out the defence and Allan Woodhouse went through on goal. His effort clipped off the inside of the box and bounced over the line before Jay Hogarth was able to get his hands on it.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 18th minute when a blocked clearance fell to David Mitchell and he made no mistake with his effort. Clyde hit the crossbar with a free-kick from a trialist, and went into the break three down with Boris Melingui being allowed to go through one-on-one with Hogarth and picked his spot beyond the ‘keeper.

Clyde did improve in the second half and created chances, but were wasteful with them. Scott Williamson was played through on goal but he fired straight at the ‘keeper, whilst a Nathan Cannon header came back off the bar. A consolation was claimed in the 77th minute after Logan Dunachie met Kyle Fleming’s cross into the box and headed past Scott McLellan.
