East Kilbride 5-0 Clyde
East Kilbride were crowned William Hill League 2 champions at K-Park today after a convincing victory over The Bully Wee.
With an eye on Tuesday night’s playoff, Darren Young rotated his squad, handing Lennon Connolly his first league start, whilst Jay Hogarth, Sam Campbell, Robbie Leitch and Nathan Cannon returned to the side.
Clyde got off to a poor start after cheaply giving possession away inside the opening 90 seconds, allowing John Robertson to race clear on goal and fire a low shot across Hogarth to open the scoring.
EK went into the interval with a firm grip on the title after Connor Young bagged a double, first reacting to a rebound following a save from Hogarth, and then sending a cut back into the roof of the net.
Clyde had a chance to reduce the deficit after half-time when a fizzing effort from Kyle Fleming was deflected just wide of the target, before the hosts added a fourth after Jack Leitch caught Hogarth off his line.
The Bully Wee then had opportunities through Liam Scullion and Lennon Connolly when through on goal, with the former drawing a save and the latter rolling off target, whilst Kilby put the icing on the cake through Sean Fagan converting a corner.
