Clyde to Face Glencairn in Rutherglen 900 Celebration

We are pleased to announce that Clyde will return to Rutherglen on Saturday 4th July for a special friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn.

The match forms part of the Rutherglen 900 programme, a community-led initiative celebrating the Royal Burgh’s 900th anniversary this year.

The game will take place at Glencairn’s home ground, the Hamish B Allan Stadium, just along the road from Clyde’s former home of Shawfield, where the club spent 88 years.

The Bully Wee also provided the opposition when Glencairn opened their new stadium in 2008, with the sides playing out a 1–1 draw on that occasion.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm, with further details to follow in due course.

Clyde chairman John Taylor commented:

“We are delighted to be playing our part in the celebrations for Rutherglen’s 900th anniversary. The club has a long and proud association with the town, and many of our supporters are still based locally, so it’s a great opportunity for us to return to the area.

“Rutherglen Glencairn are a club we know well and we’re looking forward to renewing that connection. It should be a fantastic afternoon in what we expect will be a real gala atmosphere as the community comes together to mark such a significant milestone.”
