Scottish March of the Day

The club are proud to announce they are supporting the Scottish March of the Day, a fundraising walk around 22 football stadiums from Glasgow to Edinburgh. The event is to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Organised by Redwood Events, the walk covers 146 miles over two days. A core team of 28 walkers – 14 representing each foundation – will complete the route in relay, broken into 38 stages of approximately 4 miles each. Seven walkers will be assigned to each stage, ensuring continuous progress throughout the journey.

The walkers are due to arrive at Hamilton Community Stadium at 2.40pm on Friday 10th October before heading off on the second stage to Celtic Park.

A number of former Scottish players are participating in the walk including John McGinley, Andy Walker Mark Perry. Also on the walk is Martin Johnston.  Martin enjoyed a distinguished career with Cove Rangers, Brechin City, Peterhead, and Elgin City until the age of 35. At the age of 40, following an extended period of physical changes, Martin was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The event is particularly poignant to the Club with former player David Hagen passing away at the age of 47 following a brave two-year battle against MND.  David is fondly remembered during his time at Broadwood for playing a key role in The Bully Wee’s First Division title challenge in 2003-04.

The club will be holding a collection in aid of the event before our home against East Kilbride on Saturday 4th October 2025. If you are able to assist with the collection please contact the club at Graeme.kelly@clydefc.co.uk or Dean.Mckirdy@clydefc.co.uk

Let’s come together to honour David’s legacy and support the fight against MND.
