Queen of the South 3-1 Clyde
Clyde suffered defeat at Palmerston Park this evening as Queen of the South ran out 3-1 winners in the KDM Evolution Trophy.
Darren Young made eight changes to the side from Saturday’s draw at Stranraer, with only Craig Howie, Andy Murdoch and James Hilton retaining their places.
Brian Kinnear was twiced called into action early to save from Ben Johnstone and Cole Burke, but he could do nothing about the opener midway through the half as Kurtis Guthrie was released one-on-one and he slotted into the net.
Clyde were level within a minute of the restart after Darren Hynes drilled a low cross into the box. Ross Stewart caught the ball on the ground, but then spilled it, with a stramash involving two home defenders plus Robbie Leitch and Scott Williamson, but the latter poked it over the line.
Kinnear was at his best again to deny Guthrie twice from headers, before Williamson was played through on goal but he skewed an effort wide.
Guthrie did add a second in the 72nd minute when the ball was squared to him and he finished on the edge of the six-yard box.
The game was then put to bed when Taylor Charters was allowed to drive into the box and place a finish beyond Kinnear.
