PREVIEW: Edinburgh City v Clyde

Clyde travel to the capital tomorrow to face Edinburgh City with five matches of the William Hill League Two season remaining.

The Bully Wee can leapfrog Stranraer into seventh with a win to secure three straight league victories for the first time since March 2020. Meanwhile, the Citizens could go nine points clear in third and move another step closer to clinching a promotion playoff place.

Darren Young’s side head to Edinburgh on the back of two consecutive victories which has seen the gap on the relegation playoff spot increase to nine points. However, league victories away to the Citizens have been hard to come by with the last win recorded in May 2019.

They are also winless against the hosts so far this season in the league, with two defeats and a draw. The season did start brightly however at Meadowbank, with a 5-0 win in the League Cup back in July.

The club’s last meeting ended in a 2-0 victory for Michael McIndoe’s men in Hamilton after goals from Lewis McArthur and Connor Young either side of the interval.

The last meeting at Meadowbank also resulted in victory for Edinburgh due to a strike from Young, while neither team could be separated in a 1-1 draw last September at New Douglas Park.

However, the Citizens are smarting from last weekend’s loss to Stirling and a second straight defeat would all but confirm The Bully Wee’s safety with four games left, if Bonnyrigg lose at Peterhead.

Clyde have won 12, drew four and lost seven out of 23 matches played.
