Clyde 1-1 Forfar Athletic
Clyde confirmed their William Hill League Two safety with three games remaining after a share of the spoils against Forfar Athletic.
Marley Redfern, Darren Hynes and Kyle Connell returned to the starting lineup, while Jamie Bradley was handed his first league start late on after Robbie Leitch pulled out with injury in the warm-up.
Forfar went agonisingly close to opening the scoring in the fourth minute. Skelly’s header was set to creep into the bottom left corner, but Dunachie was quick to intercept before it could cross the line.
As the match progressed, the Loons were enjoying more of the possession but were struggling to impose any danger to the home defence, while restricting the Bully Wee opportunities to break into their box.
However, Clyde broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with their first shot on target. A throw in from Connell landed at the feet of Bradley in the middle of the box. He miscued his shot but set up Logan Dunachie whose subsequent strike slithered through and bypassed McCallum into the net.
The hosts’ lead did not last long as the visitors equalised nine minutes later. Rodden fed the ball to an unmarked Reuben McAllister who headered beyond an advancing Kennedy.
At the other end, Redfern tried his luck when he rounded past Logan to shoot goalwards, but his effort was narrowly wide.
The Bully Wee tried to heap pressure in the dying minutes before the break when Bradley fired a dangerous low cross into the box, only for the ball to be cleared.
Morrison had the ball in the net seconds after the restart for the Loons, but his header was disallowed by the referee due to a soft foul on Howie in the buildup.
In the 49th minute, Clyde spurned a chance to regain their lead when Hynes fizzed a low cross along the box to the back post, but Connell shot over an open goal from a few yards out.
On the hour, Skelly barged into the box from the left and made a beeline for the net, but he was denied by Kennedy.
In the 68th minute, Sutherland sprinted deep into the box to send the ball into Williamson’s path one-on-one with McCallum, but the ball hit the forward’s heels and the visiting ‘keeper was quick to mop up the danger.
Both teams struggled to create opportunities or show composure in the final third for the remainder of the match with Docherty running onto Murdoch’s through ball in the 86th minute, but his left-footed effort lacked power and was comfortably saved.
