PREVIEW: Stranraer v Clyde

Clyde travel to Stranraer tomorrow as the William Hill League Two season enters its final six weeks.

The Bully Wee can go nine points clear of bottom while the Blues could leapfrog Stirling Albion into sixth with a win and reignite their playoff hopes.

Darren Young expects to have a similar squad available following last Saturday’s victory over Bonnyrigg Rose. Brian Kinnear and Lee Connelly have both underwent surgery recently following injuries sustained in September and will be out for the remainder of the season. Shay Nevans is also sidelined for the rest of the campaign, but there is more positive news on Marley Redfern who returned to training this week and is aiming for a return to action soon.

Three points will mean back-to-back wins for Young’s side for the first time since December. However, the club have struggled at Stair Park during recent years with their last league win in February 2006.

Despite that, the Blues are winless in their last three home matches and with nine points between them and Elgin in fourth, have suffered a blow to their late promotion playoff push.

Clyde won last month’s meeting at New Douglas Park with goals from Martin Rennie and Scott Williamson.

Meanwhile, it was a share of the spoils in the last encounter in Dumfries and Galloway when Mark Russell cancelled Jordan Allan’s opener. The first meeting in Hamilton ended in a win for Clyde after Ray Grant’s winner.

The Bully Wee boast a strong record in this fixture with 30 wins, 27 draws and 20 defeats as they bid to end their 19-year league hoodoo by moving another step closer to safety.
