PREVIEW: Peterhead v Clyde
The Bully Wee travel to Aberdeenshire tomorrow afternoon to visit Peterhead, where victory would strengthen their hold on seventh place, while second place Blue Toon could go within a point of the league summit.
Darren Young’s men have won one of their last five matches and will be aiming for consecutive victories for the first time since December. However, they are yet to win an away match this season and have only won three games at Balmoor.
Over their past five games, Peterhead have only lost once with Jordon Brown and Ryan Strachan’s side’s home form the third-best in the fourth tier. They have lost two, drew five and won 13.
Clyde had the upper hand in the last match between the sides at New Douglas Park. Robbie Leitch opened the scoring before Liam Scullion doubled Clyde’s lead four minutes later, only for Andy McCarthy to pull a goal back with minutes until the interval. A late equaliser from Jack Brown evened the scoring but Scullion’s strike in stoppage time secured a last-gasp victory.
Meanwhile back in September both teams had to settle for a point at Balmoor. Logan Dunachie’s spot-kick cancelled out Ryan Strachan’s first-half opener for Peterhead. Max Barry regained their lead but Jordan Allan forced a share of the spoils with nine minutes remaining.
Clyde have lost 25, drew 12 and won only nine of 46 matches played. The Bully Wee have came away from Balmoor with a league victory on just two occasions, in January 2019 and March 2021.
