East Fife 3-0 Clyde
The Bully Wee went down 3-0 in Methil this afternoon despite a promising start to the game, and another couple of injuries to contend with.
Darren Young made three changes to the XI which started 2025 with a win over Stirling Albion; Robbie Hemfrey recovered from illness to take over from Jay Kennedy in goals, whilst Tommy Robson returned from suspension and Kyle Connell was also included to replace the injured Martin Rennie and departed Jordan Allan.
Clyde carved out an opportunity in the third minute when Kyle Connell’s quick throw found Robbie Leitch in the box; he couldn’t get a shot away and the ball dropped to Andy Murdoch, but his effort went narrowly over.
Shortly after The Bully Wee came forward again and the ball was played to Connell in the box, who looked to have been barged by Murdoch but the referee didn’t point to the spot. Tommy Robson tried his luck from distance, but the ball cannoned off the bar.
Clyde’s injury woes continued after Robbie Leitch was stretchered off with a shoulder injury following an innocuous incident. His replacement Marley Redfern had a chance to break the deadlock after good work by Jordan Houston driving into the box before squaring for the winger but his shot was held by Liam McFarlane.
The hosts opened the scoring five minutes after the break. A long throw into the box was met by Jess Norey, who slipped in between the Clyde defence to stroke home from close range.
The Fifers doubled their lead five minutes later after another long throw; Alan Trouten lost his marker and had plenty of time to pick his spot after the ball was played to him.
Clyde then lost Connell to injury before East Fife sealed the points in the final minute with a fine effort from Adam Lareef which sailed into the top corner of the net from outside the box.
