The Spartans 3-2 Clyde
The Bully Wee left Ainslie Park empty handed on an afternoon that was overshadowed by a serious injury to Spartans player Paul Watson.
Darren Young made one enforced change to his side, as Logan Dunachie replaced the injured Jordan Houston.
The hosts took an early lead following a goalmouth scramble at the near post following a corner, with Paul Watson squeezing the ball over the line.
The lead was doubled on the 20th minute when a free-kick on half-way found Cammy Russell, who turned on the edge of the box and rifled a shot beyond Hemfrey.
Clyde pulled one back three minutes before the interval when Logan Dunachie powered a header towards goal from a corner, and Lee Hamilton got the final touch off his shoulder to send the ball beyond Blair Carswell.
The game was then halted for 45 minutes with just three minutes on the second half clock, as Watson suffered a serious lower leg injury whilst blocking an effort from Martin Rennie. Both teams returned to the changing rooms as an ambulance was called to assist the stricken Spartans player.
Russell got his second of the afternoon 11 minutes after the restart when he sent a low drive across Hemfrey from a narrow angle.
Clyde made it game on in the last quarter of an hour as Allan cottoned on to a header from Rennie and shot for goal, with his effort taking a big deflection and looping over the head of Carswell.
Ray Grant was then shown a second yellow card by Duncan Nicholson with five minutes remaining for handball, with the whistler appearing to be influenced by shouts from the home dugout before eventually awarding a free-kick.
