Clyde 2-2 Bonnyrigg Rose
Marley Redfern rescued a point for Clyde as The Bully Wee came from behind twice to share the spoils with 10-men Bonnyrigg Rose in Darren Young’s first home match as manager.
The Clyde boss opted to retain the starting lineup from last weekend’s Scottish Cup Second Round tie against Elgin City.
Bonnyrigg scored within the opening 25 seconds when Ross took advantage of a short back pass by Howie to slot the ball past Hemfrey from close range.
Despite the visitors dominating possession in the early stages, Clyde were attempting to make inroads when Leitch passed the ball to Allan in the centre of the box, but the striker sent his shot wide. At the other end, Currie placed a dangerous cross into the box, only for no bodies to connect.
In the 24th minute, The Bully Wee pulled a goal back courtesy of Allan. Leitch and Scullion linked up to place the ball in Allan’s path who snuck past opposition defenders to fire home the equaliser into the roof of the net.
Rennie then went agonisingly close to adding a second for the hosts four minutes later when he sent a header goalwards from deep within the box following a corner, but Currie cleared the ball off the line.
As the home side were growing more into the match, with five minutes remaining until the interval, an unmarked Rennie catapulted the ball from 30 yards which Martin denied by stretching to tip it over the bar.
In the final minute of the first half, Ross raced up the pitch and squared the ball to Ferrie on the right of the box, but his angled shot was cleared.
Shortly after Ferrie’s effort stroked the side netting, in the 53rd minute, Rose goalkeeper Martin was shown a straight red after he clattered into Allan on the edge of the box with the striker through on goal. Rennie’s resulting free-kick was blocked by replacement ‘keeper Ritchie.
As the clock reached the hour mark, Ritchie crouched low at the post to deny Allan’s attempt from the corner of the box, while in the 71st minute, Rennie came close to hitting the target when he met Scullion’s cross inside the box, but his shot bruised the woodwork.
In the 82nd minute, Allan rounded past a defender to send the ball across the goalmouth, but no Clyde players were there to meet his pass as the hosts continued to be passive in the final third.
However, Bonnyrigg retook the lead with three minutes of normal time remaining. Blunders in defence from Houston and Hamilton enabled Ross to race through the box and send a low shot beyond Hemfrey which nestled into the bottom left corner.
In a frantic end to the match, The Bully Wee levelled the scoring in the first minute of injury time. Houston fired a low cross into the box which looked to evade everyone apart from Redfern whose low shot found the bottom corner.
