Clyde 1-1 Edinburgh City
Clyde’s winless run continued despite a last gasp Jordan Allan penalty as The Bully Wee came from behind to share the spoils with Edinburgh City.
Jordan Houston returned to the starting lineup as Ian McCall made five changes from the match against East Fife a fortnight ago. Jordan Allan, Logan Dunachie, Darren Lyon and Lee Connelly also came back into the XI replacing Craig Howie, Kyle Connell, Ray Grant, Liam Scullion and Dominic Docherty.
It was not until the 18th minute that The Bully Wee threatened with their first shot on target; Robson connected to Lee Connelly’s pass on the edge of the box with the ball managing to evade defenders, but his shot was easily collected by Weir.
As an arguably uneventful first half reached the half hour mark, Young floated the ball into the box for the Citizens, but his effort from the right-hand side skewed narrowly wide with no yellow bodies in position to collect. The former Clyde forward was then awarded a free kick which also missed the target, before almost making amends for his spurned chance when he muscled into the box to collect a loose ball, but Kinnear was quick to crouch down and block.
With seconds remaining until the interval, Allan squared the ball to Connelly who flicked a high effort towards goal from within the box, only for a defender’s head to knock the ball off course and send it behind.
Redfern cut inside the box and fired a shot goalwards, but Weir was on alert to deny his effort as Clyde looked to be on the front foot after the restart. At the other end, Lawson skipped into the box to direct home his shot from the centre, but it was swiftly intercepted by the home defence who cleared the danger.
The Bully Wee went agonisingly close to opening the scoring in the 56th minute. The ball was flung into the box from the left flank and straight into the vicinity of Allan who rifled a header from close-range, only for it to curl over the bar.
As proceedings ticked past the hour, a corner kick for Edinburgh fell to Lynch whose attempt sliced through the box and straight into the palms of Kinnear. However, the ‘keeper was caught floundering mere minutes later as the Citizens prised open the deadlock. The ball fell kindly to the feet of Young on the edge of the box, who instantly turned to slot a powerful strike into the bottom left corner via the post.
In the 77th minute, Allan attempted to catch the end of Docherty’s cross from deep inside the box, but to no avail as he struggled to reach it as the Bully Wee sought a late equaliser.
In the final minute of normal time, when it looked as if the visitors would gain the three points, Clyde were awarded a penalty. Murdoch was tripped in the box which led to Allan’s spot kick trickling past Weir and into the net.
The Bully Wee came close to snatching a late winner during injury time as Dom Docherty nicked the end of Houston’s cross from the back post, but his header flew wide.
