Bonnyrigg Rose 2-1 Clyde

The Bully Wee suffered back-to-back defeats in William Hill League 2 after a game of two halves at New Dundas Park today.

Ian McCall made two changes to his side, with Lee Connelly and Logan Dunachie coming in for Martin Rennie and Jordan Allan.

Clyde started strongly with Lee Connelly getting an early chance but he couldn’t keep his shot down, before Tom Ritchie got fingertips to Liam Scullion’s header from an Andy Murdoch cross.

It didn’t take long for Scullion to open the scoring however. In the 9th minute Logan Dunachie charged down a clearance from Ritchie with the ball falling to Connelly. His shot was cleared off the line, but the ball fell nicely for Scullion to nod home from close range.

Dunachie had a good chance to double the lead just before the break after being played through one-on-one by Kyle Connell, but Ritchie stood up and made a good save, before a dipping volley from Connelly went narrowly off target on the stroke of the interval.

The game turned on it’s head in the 51st minute after histrionics from Rose captain Kerr Young. Dunachie cleanly won a high ball with his arms by his side, prompting Young to throw himself to the ground screaming with his teammates claiming he had been elbowed. The playacting was bought by referee Joel Kennedy, who showed little control over the afternoon’s proceedings, and he showed Dunachie a second yellow and red card.

The hosts were level a minute later when Bradley Barrett nodded home a cross in the six-yard box.

Connell then had a blistering volley well saved by Ritchie, before Rose took the lead in the 62nd minute. The ball was cut back from the by-line into the path of Angus Mailer, who rifled a shot into the roof of the net.

Bonnyrigg could have increased their advantage as Cameron Ross went through one-on-one with Kinnear, but Clyde’s number 1 stretched to make a fine save to send the effort wide.
