PREVIEW: Clyde v Motherwell

The Bully Wee play their opening home game of the 2024-25 season tomorrow as Motherwell make the short journey to New Douglas Park in the Premier Sports Cup Group G tie.

The Steelmen currently top the group, having beaten Edinburgh City 3-0 last weekend before claiming a bonus point in a penalty shoot-out against Montrose on Tuesday, following a 1-1 draw. Clyde are second on goal difference following their emphatic midweek win at Meadowbank.

The Bully Wee will be looking for their first win over The ‘Well in almost 40 years. They last triumphed over the visitors in this fixture in March 1985, thanks to a Derek Frye goal. The sides last met at this stage six years ago with Clyde leading for most of the match, before Motherwell scored three times in the final 15 minutes to take the victory.

Jordan Allan is added to the squad following his season-long loan move from Falkirk last night.

Due to a delay in the delivery of the new home kit, the team will wear last season’s white third jersey for tomorrow’s match. The club is expected to take delivery of the new kit early next week and will be worn for the first time in the Premier Sports Cup tie against Montrose.
