NEW SIGNINGS: Dom Docherty & Paul McKay
The club is pleased to announce two more signings ahead of the 2024-25 season; Dominic Docherty and Paul McKay, subject to SFA approval.
Docherty, 26, came through the academy at Partick Thistle before gaining first-team experience at Queen’s Park through a loan and then a permanent deal with the Spiders. The central midfielder then joined Stirling Albion in 2018 for three seasons, before spending the same amount of time at Annan Athletic. He made over 100 appearances for the Galabankies and helped them win promotion to League 1 in 2023.
Central defender McKay began his career in England with Doncaster Rovers and then moved onto Leeds United, where he made one first team appearance in an FA Cup tie. After a spell with Cardiff City, the 27-year-old then returned to Scotland in 2019 to sign for Airdrieonians. He spent two seasons at Broomfield before joining Queen of the South in the summer of 2021, where he has plied his trade since.
Docherty has put pen to paper on a one-year contract, whilst McKay has signed on at Clyde for two years.
Manager Ian McCall commented:-
“Paul has played most of his football in the Championship and League 1; he’s a good centre-back who also has the ability to play as a sitting midfielder, and also has a very good long throw-in in his arsenal. He was very keen to join up with us and we’re excited to have him.
“I’ve watched Annan several times over the last couple of years. Dom always stood out and his stats are up there with the best in League 1. He’s energetic and will go box-to-box, and has a good eye for a pass. We feel he will be a really good addition and an asset to our squad.
“Both Paul and Dom, as well as everyone else in the squad will need to work hard to get into the first XI and work even harder to meet the challenge and stay there.”
Dominic and Paul will both officially become Clyde players when their respective contracts at Annan and Queen of the South expire next month.
