Robert Bowie
All at the club were saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong Bully Wee fan Robert Bowie earlier this week, aged 80.
Robert, also known as Bobby, was born and brought up in the Gorbals and started making the short journey from his home to Shawfield as a boy, before following Clyde to Firhill, Douglas Park, Broadwood and New Douglas Park.
Bobby had many fond memories in his years following The Bully Wee, including watching his heroes lift the Scottish Cup twice at Hampden, in 1955 and 1958. He also passed his love of the club onto his son Robert, and they were in attendance to witness famous victories over Celtic in 2006 and the playoff final victory over Annan Athletic four years ago. Bobby still spoke fondly of all these games in his final days.
A couple of years ago Bobby made a return visit to Shawfield for a trip down memory lane with Robert. The last match he attended was the victory against Elgin City in September.
The thoughts and condolences of all at the club go to Bobby’s wife Iris, children Robert and Lorraine, grandchildren Ciaran, Blaire, Scott, Stuart, Noah and great-grandchildren Luca and Nolan.
