Clyde 2-1 Caledonian Locomotives

Clyde progressed through to the final of the Paul Kelly Memorial Cup this afternoon, with a comfortable performance earning a 2-1 win at Petershill.

New signings Jack Leighfield, Logan Dunachie and Ross Forbes all started the game for the Bully Wee alongside Erik Sula, Jon Craig, Barry Cuddihy, Liam Scullion, Euan Cameron and trialists.

Barry Cuddihy had the best chances in the first half, going close with a lob which went narrowly wide and a long-range strike which rattled the bar. Clyde went through on goal a number of times looking for the lead with some nice balls in behind the defence but struggled to find the net.

Against the run of play, Caledonian Locomotives took the lead with their first chance of the game. A cross was deflected high and hit the crossbar, and they reacted first to the rebound to bundle the ball into the net.

The lead didn’t last long though, as a Trialist was played through into the box towards the end of the first half and finished a shot nicely, low past the keeper to level the score.

The second half was much of the same with Clyde controlling possession and getting a number of shots away which lead to a high amount of corners but couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Clyde eventually retook the lead as a Trialist who came on as a substitute in the second half got the ball in the box and found space in the box to fire a powerful shot into the net.

The score stayed the same until the final whistle, which means Clyde will play St Roch’s in the final on Sunday at 4pm.
