Montrose 2-0 Clyde

Clyde suffered another loss on the road this afternoon after a poor opening period saw them go down 2-0 at Montrose.

Jim Duffy brought Brian McLean into the starting XI along with debutant Rico Quitongo, in for Kyle Doherty and the suspended Kurtis Roberts. Ryan Mullen also returned to the bench in place of Joshua Bradley-Hurst, who has joined West of Scotland Premier Division side Auchinleck Talbot on a seven-day emergency loan.

Liam Scullion and Craig Brown both shot from distance inside the first minute but both ‘keepers were equal to their efforts.

Scullion did have the ball in the back of the net in the fifth minute but unfortunately it was into his own net, passing a low cross into the bottom corner.

Rory McAllister almost doubled the lead shortly after when he cut inside the box but Parry saved his low shot with his foot.

Montrose did add a second just after the half-hour mark when Sean Dillon met a corner at the near post and headed the ball past Parry.

Terry Masson’s volley drifted just wide of target before the interval, and early in the second half McAllister connected with a diving header but it also went narrowly wide.

Ryan McGeever almost pulled one back midway through the second period when he met Barry Cuddihy’s floated free-kick and beat the ‘keeper to it, but a defender was able to get back and hack the ball away a couple of yards from the line.

Cuddihy was involved again when he picked out Kyle Doherty on the right wing, who fizzed a cross into the box to Cunningham. His first effort was blocked, and his follow up was held by Ross Matthews.
