Peterhead 1-0 Clyde

The Bully Wee sank to the bottom of cinch League 1 this afternoon following a loss at Peterhead.

Jim Duffy made three changes to his side, with Brian McLean and Paul Kennedy returning as Kyle Doherty made his debut. Martin Rennie would make his first appearance from the bench.

There was a strong wind at Balmoor which Clyde had to their advantage in the first-half but failed to make it count. Jordan Allan was played in on goal midway through the half but his tame effort was saved by Tom Ritchie.

Moments later Allan had another chance when he appeared to win the ball from Ritchie and had a sight of goal, but the ‘keeper recovered and got his hands on it before Allan could shoot.

The Blue Toon had a great opportunity to break the deadlock in stoppage time following a corner as the ball fell to Daniel Fosu just yards from goal but Neil Parry made a great stop from point blank range to deny him.

Peterhead scored the vital goal six minutes after the restart. A corner into the Clyde box wasn’t cleared and Kieran Shanks was able to backheel into the net from six yards out.

The hosts had another good chance to double their advantage when Fosu had a free header in the box but he couldn’t find the target with the goal at his mercy.

Substitutes Jon Craig and Martin Rennie then combined with the former fizzing a cross across goal which Rennie turned back but it was cleared off the line by a defender.

Ross Cunningham then thought he had equalised when his shot took a big deflection and looped towards goal, but despite Ritchie already diving to the other side, the ball held up in the wind and he was able to get back on his feet to claim it.
