Foundation Delivers Festive Friends

The Clyde FC Community Foundation have been busy this Christmas season, as they took part in the SPFL Trust’s Festive Friends programme again.

Festive Friends is a project created and funded by the SPFL Trust to engage socially isolated elderly people at Christmas and bring them together.

This year the Clyde Foundation partnered up with Glasgow’s Golden Generation, a charity for older individuals established to tackle loneliness.

The Festive Friends programme was delivered in their Fred Paton Centre in Glasgow’s West End, with 5 lunches provided over 5 days with a turn out of 125 people.

Foundation Football Development Officer Kirsty McFarlane commented:-

“I was thrilled to partner up with Glasgows Golden Generation to deliver our Festive Friends programme to those who are most at risk of loneliness and isolation during the Christmas period. It was great to meet the attendees and staff at the Fred Paton Centre and get to know them over the lunches we delivered.

“We managed to send each attendee home with a little goodie bag from us and the appreciation they showed to ourselves was overwhelming. We look forward to hopefully continuing to work with Glasgow’s Golden Generation in the future to provide different opportunities for these individuals all year round.”
