PREVIEW: Clyde v Airdrieonians
Clyde bring 28 years of playing at Broadwood to a close tomorrow, with the visit of Airdrieonians in cinch League 1 being our final fixture at the stadium.
The Bully Wee secured another season in cinch League 1 last week with our 2-1 win over Montrose. The Diamonds on the other hand are still pushing for the league title and only a win in this game will keep them with a chance of clinching the title if Cove Rangers lose against Dumbarton.
Manager Danny Lennon spoke to the website ahead of the last game at Broadwood:
“Everyone associated with the club will have mixed feelings about moving on from Broadwood. We are closing a 28 year chapter in the history of the club. Broadwood will most likely be remembered for our famous win over Celtic in the cup and in my own time here, for winning the play-off final against Annan to gain promotion to League One. When one door closes, another door opens.
It’s up to everyone associated with the club to write the new chapter in our history and ensure it’s a positive chapter. That’s the challenge we face right now and I think we will all pull together to take this great club forward
Airdrie will provide another tough test but we have competed with them well and picked up points in recent encounters. They will be coming full of confidence and still have hopes for winning the title so I’m sure it will prove to be a good encounter and memorable day. We want to finish the season as high up the table as we can and don’t want to let things fizzle out.
