NEW SIGNING: Monday Samuel

The club is pleased to announce the signing of central midfielder Samuel Monday Ayinoko, known as Monday Samuel, on a contract until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old was born in Nigeria but also holds Swedish citizenship after spending almost all of his professional career in the Scandanavian country.

Samuel spent time in the academy of Portuguese giants Benfica before moving to Sweden in 2012 to join second-tier side Ängelholms FF. He then signed for Östersunds FK in 2015 and helped them win promotion to the Swedish top flight, the Allsvenskan, for the first time in their history. During this time Samuel worked with ex-Clyde manager Billy Reid, who was the assistant to Graham Potter at Ostersund.

Monday was then recruited by Henrik Larsson in 2016 for his Helsingborgs IF side, where he became a first team regular in the Allsvenskan. He spent the 2018 season with Landskrona BoIS before having a spell in Vietnam with V.League 1 side Thanh Hóa. Samuel returned to the Swedish top tier in 2020 with Varbergs BoIS, before spending the most recent campaign with IFK Malmö.

The club received international clearance for Samuel this afternoon and he goes into the squad for tomorrow’s match against Queen’s Park.
