Clyde 0-1 Cove Rangers

The Bully Wee lost a cinch League 1 match for the first time since October, with a solitary goal midway through the second half stretching Cove Rangers’ lead at the top of the table to 7 points.

With David Goodwillie, Ross Cunningham and Paul Kennedy missing through injury, Owen Andrew was handed a first start in the league following his return from loan at Cumbernauld Colts. Kevin Nicoll also returned to the team to replace the suspended Aaron Splaine.

Adam Livingstone had a chance early on when he got on the end of a cross at the back post, but his header was wide.

At the other end Morgyn Neill was picked out from a free-kick but couldn’t direct a header on target.

Ally Love was the next to try his luck with his head, but he miscued and headed over the bar from a Rob Jones cross.

Morgaro Gomis started a counter attack after the interval and played in Jones, who slipped the ball to Livingstone, but he dragged an effort across the face of goal.

There were very little clear cut chances over the course of the afternoon with neither goalkeeper being seriously troubled, but the visitors got the all important goal in the 71st minute. A throw-in was taken quickly to Barry Cuddihy, but he was caught in possession by Iain Vigurs. The Cove midfielder won the ball, took a touch then curled a left footed effort into the corner of the net.

The Bully Wee tried to hit back with a series of crosses into the box and came close again through Jones, but his header from Livingstone’s ball could only loop onto the roof of the net.
