Queen’s Park 0-0 Clyde

The Bully Wee picked up a well earned point in the Glasgow Derby at Firhill today, after a hardworking performance against Queen’s Park.

Danny Lennon made two changes to the side, with Barry Cuddihy missing out due to injury and Adam Livingstone dropping to the bench, replaced by Scott Rumsby and Ally Love. There was a tactical change too, with Jonathan Page shifting to right-back.

Neil Parry was called into action early after Luis Longstaff broke into the box and was one-on-one, but the ‘keeper made a brave block with his body.

Parry made another important save when a cross from the left hand side found Liam Brown in the box, and the number 1 showed good reflexes to get down low and stop the shot from close range.

Longstaff was next to try his luck when the ball broke to him in the box. He hit a shot on the turn, but Mark Docherty got his foot in to deflect the ball behind for a corner.

Clyde had a great chance to open the scoring shortly before the interval. Ally Love’s cross across goal was nodded back towards the penalty spot by David Goodwillie at the back post into the path of Morgaro Gomis, but the midfielder blazed his half-volley over the bar.

The Spiders came close a couple of times just after half-time. Stuart Morrison saw his header from a corner come off the junction of the post and bar, and then McHugh had an opportunity from close range, but Page made a block.

Referee Euan Anderson then awarded Clyde a penalty after Goodwillie nipped in ahead of Morrison and was brought down by the defender. The spot kick was passed up though, with Goodwillie sending the ball over the bar.

Paul Kennedy had an effort on target after showing good control and hitting a low drive from around 25 yards, but Calum Ferrie got down and held the shot.

Queen’s Park hit the woodwork again when Michael Doyle was found from a free-kick and saw his header clip off the crossbar.

Parry made another vital save in the last minute after Louis Longridge cut inside and fired a shot towards goal, but the ‘keeper got both palms behind it and turned it away.

The Bully Wee had a couple of corners deep into stoppage time and one of them met Page, but he was unable to get the required power on his header, which went into the ground then into the hands of Ferrie.
