PREVIEW: Clydebank v Clyde

It’s Scottish Cup weekend and Clyde face Clydebank in this years Third Round tie.

Holm park will host what is sure to be a competitive cup fixture, with The Bankies looking to knock out another SPFL side having beaten Elgin City in the last round in the replay after the first game ended a draw.

Clyde will come into this game with confidence after last weekend’s 3-1 win over East Fife in cinch League 1 after back to back draws in the teo games before that.

Danny Lennon will have Euan Deveney and Jonathan Page back available for selection after the duo missed the East Fife game, as both featured midweek in the Glasgow Cup. The Clyde manager spoke to the official website ahead of the game:-

“We’re expecting a very difficult challenge. In my time here, we’ve always had difficult away ties against lower league teams and that’s the beauty of these cup competitions. We’re certainly coming into a period of time where we’re starting to get a bit of our form back, and we’re wanting to continue that on.

”The boys have been working extremely hard and yes, the game tomorrow is on astro but it’s a tight environment. We’ll be outnumbered by the support of a team that had a proud history in the leagues years ago, and they will still have many fans that remember those days. They will be fired up for this so we need to make sure we’re professional like we have been in the last few games, and bring the intensity needed.

”We know the Clyde support will be fantastic yet again, you hear them before you see them everywhere you go especially in tight grounds, similar to the cup tie at Bonnyrigg a couple of seasons ago.

We have done our due diligence on Clydebank and the total respect they deserve, they’ve already caused an upset in the last round. They’ll be looking at it thinking they have nothing to lose, while we have everything to lose. We have already made mistakes in cup competitions this year and we have to bring our A-game to make sure there is no romance of the cup in this tie.”
